Wedding traditions across cultures and time.
Laura and Dan
Being a little on the side of introverted, we love being part of more smaller, and more non-traditional weddings whenever we can. So we when received a new mail from the lovely Rebecca of Runaway Romance about an elopement along the Garden Route we couldn’t have been more excited… well at least until we met the amazing Laura and Dan.
Plettenberg Bay is just close enough to our little home town that the road trip is always a treat, and as soon as we walked into Emily moon we could see Rebecca had worked her magic yet again! With bright bold colours, a hanging flower wall and the most beautiful bouquet yet!
We found a relaxed yet excited Laura and Dan enjoying the view from their suite overlooking the winding rivers outside Plett. Seeing Dan catching up on his tan on the balcony, while Laura was pampered by her lovely make up artist Karin, left us just a little jealous. What better place to have a stress-free elopement?
Despite starting their adventure half way around the world from their home in Leeds, Laura managed to keep her stunning Boho inspired dress a secret from Dan. Not so lucky himself, the look on Dan’s face when he realised that his custom-made socks featured their beloved fur child had been discovered months before was priceless. Not wanting to keep their wedding completely to themselves it was touching to see how their friends and family sent their congratulations and love as the two shared snap shots throughout the day.
Their ceremony was nestled into a natural cove of bushes alongside a bend of the river. From the moment Laura stepped around the corner there were nonstop smiles and laughter as Tzili guided these two through their vows and along a tale of wedding traditions and ceremonies from across cultures and times.
The rest of the afternoon was spent at their own pace, wondering around while we documented these two being their crazy, in-love selves. Both the natural beauty of the Garden Route and the eclectic, yet authentic design of Emily Moon left us spoilt for choice and we were so grateful to have such amazing chemistry to capture.
As the sun set and candles were lit so that they could enjoy their first dinner as husband and wife, it was hard not to agree what an honour it had been to be part of Laura and Dan’s intimate elopement.
