There is no place like home, Constansia Nek.

Jonathan and Camila

One way to kick off the new year is to pack your car and head down to one of the most beautiful cities in our country; Cape Town. We always jump at the opportunity to visit friends and family in the Cape but up until now we haven’t had the opportunity to photograph a true Capetonian wedding. So when Camilla and Jonny dropped us a mail about their down to earth wedding in her aunt’s backyard overlooking the winelands of Constantia, we knew we were in for a treat.

Our excitement only grew as we got to explore unfamiliar parts of Constantia Nek, and wonder through the pine forests just a minute’s drive from a house so immaculately beautiful that one poor guest even mistook a well pruned hedge for a good place to stand.

But despite how we could fill paragraphs reminiscing on the amazing details of the day, it was the moments in between that were our favourites. The palpable happiness of both families as Camilla and Jonathan hugged after their first kiss. The laugher and smiles of their friends as they grabbed a drink in the shade and caught up on old memories. And the roaring energy on the dance floor as the tent throbbed with live music.

With Anna (their amazing wedding co-ordinator!!) ensuring even the smallest details were accounted for, there wasn’t a single thing that could interrupt the happiness that shone from these two all day long. It was impossible to not be infected by their joy :)

We left the Cape smiling, thinking back on how blessed we are to have been part of this beautiful couple’s wedding day. The drive may be long, but we are counting the days until we return again!
