We have said it a few times, and we’ll say it again; there is something incredibly special about documenting the wedding of a couple you are close to. You get to experience each moment with such intimacy, and relive it over again as you edit the photos.
Emma and Jess have the kind of relationship that goes so far back it’s impossible to actually put into words (to try put it into perspective, we have a photo of them together at pre-school in our studio). When Emma and Jeffrey got together he instantly made a great impression on us with his nervous laughter that filled a room for days, along with his gentle nature towards one of our dearest friends. Needless to say when it came to helping them plan their wedding, we sent lists upon list of our favorite photographers, only to have them insist on having us capture their day instead.
So on an unusually bright and sunny Autumn day in the hills behind Wilderness, we headed out as friends, bridesmaids, photographers, impromptu MCs and even waitresses for hungry vegetarians. But when there’s craft beer on tap and picnics to be had with a view of the Outeniqua Mountains, it’s easy to forget that you’re supposed to be working and just revel in the happiness of your closest friends tying the knot.
